There are usually 16 public holidays in a year, but New Year’s Day Jan 1 Jan 1

majority of traditional holidays are based on Buddhist
culture & beliefs. The calendar itself, is based on the Chakri Day Apr 6 Apr 6
lunar cycle and therefore some holidays occur on Songkran Apr 13-15 Apr 13-15
different days from year to year. Although businesses
and government offices are closed on public holidays, Labor Day May 1 May 1
tourist attractions and shops remain open. If a holiday Coronation Day May 5 May 5
falls on a weekend, the following day is observed as a
