Phra Nang Beach










                                                       At approximately 540 square kilometres,
                                                       Phuket is the largest island in Thailand with 36
                                                       beaches. The nicer seashores are found on the
                                                       west coast and include Patong, Kamala and
                                                       Bang Tao, while the east coast, covered by
                                                       mangroves and rocky beaches, offer stunning
                                                       views of nearby islands. Phuket Town itself is
                                                       a marvel filled with gorgeous Sino-Portuguese
                                                       mansions, cafés and shophouses. Rassada Pier
                                                       is Phuket’s main departure point for ferry trips
                                                       to surrounding islands, including the idyllic
                                                       Phi Phi Islands, which were the setting for the
                                                       Leonardo DiCaprio movie, The Beach (2000).

                                                       Close to Phuket is Krabi province, filled with
                                                       some of the country’s most spectacular scenery.
                                                       Because of its limestone formations, Krabi has
                                                       become a major rock-climbing destination. Kra-
                                                       bi Town is a quaint location with its main beach,
                                                       Ao Nang, acting as the gateway to nearby
                                                       islands, accessible by ferry or speedboat.

                                                       Up north from Phuket is Khao Lak, a long-time
                                                       favourite for families. Severely destroyed
                                                       during the 2004 tsunami, it has since been
                                                       completely restored. Breathtaking waterfalls
                                                       and world-class snorkelling are just some
                                                       highlights of this beach haven.

                                                       Finally, on the east coast of Southern
                                                       Thailand are the islands Koh Samui, Koh Tao
